Look before you Left
This is a proposed law |
This law has been proposed for all of our fallen brothers and sisters that have been killed when another motorist made an illegal turn directly in the path of their motorcycles (failing to yield right-of-way).
Motorcyclist along with bicyclist, pedestrians and several other users of the highway should be considered as “vulnerable users” of the highway. The Look Before You Left Law looks to hold motor vehicle operators accountable for blatantly committing moving violations (57 of them) of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law that result in the death of a motorcyclist or a passenger on a motorcycle.
Having this law on the books will: #1. Bring about a heightened awareness to motorcycle fatalities caused by other motor vehicles. #2. Bring about accountability for a motorist taking the life of a motorcyclist, and allow law enforcement to charge a motorist with stricter penalties.

Albany County Chapter President, Andrew Liuzzi met Governor Andrew Cuomo and discussed the issue. Governor Cuomo's aide gave Andy the necessary contact info to reach the Governor's office directly.
